From its modest beginnings as a small technical school in 1920, the Harbin Institute of Technology has since emerged as one of the leading universities in the People’s Republic of China and receiving international acclaim as well.

            H.I.T.’s faculty of 2,885 (including 18 members of the Chinese Academy of Science and/or Engineering) serves a student population of 40 thousand.  Bold and innovative in social and scientific research, H.I.T. has been designated as one of “China’s” key national universities, receiving “211 Project” preferential funding.

            Over the past 85 years, our graduates have assumed prominent positions in the public and private sector in law, engineering, science, economics, government, and management.  Today’s students draw upon this legacy to position themselves to play key roles, both domestically and internationally, in the 21^st Century.
